Day 1 Depart from Los Angeles to Beijing
Depart West Coast today aboard a spacious jet for the transpacific journey.
Day 2 Arrive in Beijing
Upon arrival, you are welcomed by our Star Holidays English speaking tour guide and be transferred to our hotel.
Day 3 Beijing B L D
Beijing is the capital of China and has recently been selected as the host city for the 2008 Olympics. Tiananmen Square is a famous landmark and holds distinction as being the world's largest public square. Continue on to the Forbidden City, the emperor's Summer Palace as well as the Temple of Heaven. Enjoy the Peking Roast Duck Dinner tonight.
Day 4 Beijing B L D
Snaking its way thousand of miles across Northern China, the Great Wall took several dynasties to complete and is the subject of our admiration today. Visit the Ming Tomb in the afternoon. Enjoy the Chinese Acrobatic Show tonight.
Day 5 Beijing - Lhasa (B, L, D)
Board the flight to Lhasa, capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. At an elevation of some 12,000 ft above sea level, Lhasa's thin air may cause our bodies to manifest some signs of altitude sickness. To acclimate our bodies, we are picked up and transferred to the hotel immediately upon arrival. No activities whatsoever have been scheduled this day. Please do heed the advice to not go out exploring today and just rest up indoors.
Day 6 Lhasa (B, L, D)
Visitors to Lhasa must visit Potala Palace, the largest lamasery of its type in the world and the official home to the Dalai Lama. Surrounding Potala Palace is Barkhor Street, meaning "eight corners." Descend the palace to walk this street whicih affords us a window into Tibetan culture and allows us the opportunity to buy colorful ethnic handicrafts rarely seen outside of Tibet. We also visit Jokang Lamasery, where monks receive their official training and education.
Day 7 Lhasa (B, L, D)
Early in the morning we head away from Lhasa by motorcoach to Shigatse, stopping at Yamdrok Ymtso Lake enroute. Located at an elevation of almost 15,000 ft above sea level, Yamdrok Lake is one of Tibet's three holy lakes; we take lunch lakeside, enjoying the ambience provided by such peaceful, serene surroundings. Return back to Lhasa where the remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 8 Lhasa - Chengdu (B, L, D)
Our flight departs Lhasa to Chengdu, capital of China's Sichuan Province. Upon arrival, we take a city tour and then retire to our hotel.
Day 9 Chengdu - Xian (B, L, D)
Depart Chengdu and heads towards Xian by plane. Xi’an is the famed starting point of the Silk Road. Xian was the capital of eleven dynasties before the move to Beijing and is a city rich with 5000 years of history.
Day 10 Xian (B, L, D)
The Terra Cotta Army of Qin Emperor is regarded as the eighth wonder of the world has drawn through of visitors to Xian each year. After spending generous time at the three excavation pits, head back into town and tonight we attend a delightful Imperial Dumpling Banquet, and enjoy the Tang Dynasty Dancing Show.
Day 11 Xi’an -- Shanghai B L D
Visit the Bell Tower and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. After lunch take the flight to Shanghai, the largest and most prosperous city in the nations. It is the economic financial and cultural center. Tonight we will taste the famous local Dim Sum Cuisine.
Day 12 Shanghai B L D
Enjoy the city tour with bustling Nanjing Road, the Waterfront Bund, the Shanghai Museum and Yu Garden.
Day 13 Shanghai – Los Angeles B L
Visit the People's Square. After lunch take the Meg-Lev Train to the airport for our return flight.
